Challenge: Autonomous Ground Vehicle for Project Convergence – Capstone 5 (PC-C5)
Challenge ended
Description
The Sandhills Project is soliciting challenge proposals for an autonomous ground vehicle to support experimentation and demonstration during Project Convergence – Capstone 5 (PC-C5). The event will be conducted at Fort Irwin, CA, from March 4 to March 20, 2025.
Overall Objective
The Sandhills Project is conducting experimentation with unmanned breaching of obstacles, such as minefields, wire, and ditches. The Sandhills Project is focused on using robotics to reduce these obstacles and remove Soldiers from the breaching area. The Sandhills Project aims to use a combination of ground and aerial to not only remove Soldiers from the breach, but also to provide stand-off distance from the breach location as well as enable distributed operations.
Problem Statement
The Sandhills Project requirements include using ground autonomy and edge compute to achieve automation of payloads on a ground platform and increasing the human to machine ratio to beyond 1:1 in support of breaching operations.
