USD R&E Maritime Seeker
Challenge ended
Description
As near-peer adversaries continue to ramp up their anti-access/area denial (A2AD) and force projection capabilities in the maritime domain, the high cost per All-Up Round (AUR) of US and Allied maritime munitions hinders the ability to build an effective magazine depth to counter these threats. A key driver in the high AUR cost is the munition’s seeking/guidance solution. OUSD R&E is seeking a low-cost, guidance solution for detecting, tracking, identifying, guiding, and fusing of loitering munitions for air-to-surface engagements in a maritime environment with the flexibility to be leveraged in other mission sets with minimal modification. The guidance solution needs to be modular and integratable into multiple group 3 unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The guidance solution will be developed and integrated onto a UAS, selected by OUSD, for demonstration and test.
Overall Objective
The overall objective of this project is to design, produce, and demonstrate a low-cost guidance package that will support an air-to-surface mission in a maritime environment. The vendor will be required to build up to quantity 20 guidance packages for the purposes of demonstration and test.
Problem Statement
This project is intended to help reduce the cost per shot of long range, loitering munitions in a maritime environment. Successful offerings will support integration onto a group 3 unmanned vehicle and be capable of performing an air-surface engagement of a surface vessel.
